
UPM Delegation Visits Crab and Seaweed Culture Laboratory at PSU Pattani Campus

The Faculty of Science and Technology, Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Pattani Campus, warmly welcomed a delegation from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) during the “Visit and Learn from Crab and Seaweed Culture Laboratory” program held from 15-18 February 2026.
The delegation was officially received by the Faculty’s executive management team, led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Kannika Sahakaro, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, together with academic staff from the Agricultural and Fisheries Science Program. The welcoming session reflected the Faculty’s strong commitment to fostering international academic collaboration and strengthening partnerships in marine and coastal resource research.
The program aimed to promote knowledge exchange in seaweed cultivation, crab culture, and sustainable aquaculture practices. Academic sessions included a briefing on the IMTA Seaweed Project by UPM, followed by presentations from PSU on the Seaweed and Crab Culture Program. Participants also visited the Seaweed and Crab Culture Laboratory at Aquatic Animal Hatechery, PSU Pattani Campus. In addition to on-campus activities, the delegation participated in field visits to community-based enterprises in Pattani Province, including a traditional fish cracker (keropok) factory in Yaring District and a Blue Swimming Crab Bank in Panare District.
